BOTANICAL NAME: Oenothera biennis

AROMATIC: Evening Primrose oil has a slightly sweet but very discernible herbaceous scent and like most cold pressed vegetable oils has a slightly fatty note.

CONSISTENCY: Typical and Characteristic of Carrier Oils.

ABSORPTION: Evening Primrose oil will leave a very oily feeling on skin.

SHELF LIFE: Evening Primrose oil is quick to go rancid; users can expect a shelf life of between 3 and 6 Months with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended. It can become a solid at cool temperatures.

Evening Primrose contains high levels of GLA (Gamma Linoleic Acid ) essential fatty acids and is good for dry and mature skin. It also Soothes inflammation and can be used in dandruff applications. Small amounts are often added to other carrier oils to fortify them.

USES: Evening Primrose is used in manufacturing and in dilution with other carrier oils suitable for massage. It is particularly useful for mature skin and is sometimes used to combat cellulitis although research is inconclusive.
