Cedarwood Texas Essential Oil is distilled from a small alpine evergreen that grows up to 7 metres in height. It has very stiff green needles and an irregular shaped trunk. The tree is native to southwestern USA, Mexico and Central America. The main essential oil production is in Texas, hence its name. It is also known as Ashe Juniper, Post Cedar, Mountain Cedar, or Blueberry Juniper. It is very drought tolerant but when it has access freely to a water supply it is a greedy tree and is thus considered a weed in its native habitat as it denies water to other plant nearby it location. Farmers in particular dislike it.

Not strictly a Cedar but a Juniper

The pollen from the tree, along with its cousin Cedarwood Virginiana, causes extreme allergic reaction is some and is known locally as Cedar Fever.
