Artemisia ludoviciana from which Sage Brush Essential Oil is distilled is a perennial native to the North American continent reaching as far south as Mexico and as far north as Northern Canada. It is a rhizome and perennial member of the daisy family which is quite invasive. It is also known as Silver Wormwood, Western Mugwort, Louisiana Wormwood, White  Sagebrush or Grey Sagewort.

The stems of the plant have linear leaves up to 11 centimetres in length and both the stems and foliage are completely covered in woolly  white hairs. The top of the stem has many hanging flowering heads

Traditional Uses for Sage Brush Essential Oil:-

A very rare oil

Antispasmodic, carminative, choleretic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emmenagogue, nervine, orexigenic, stimulant, stomachic, tonic (uterine, womb), vermifuge. It is known to be used to expel worms, control fever and as a digestive remedy.

Sage Brush Essential Oil Blends Well With:-

Patchouli, Lavender, Oak Moss, Rosemary, Pine, Sage, Clary Sage and Cedarwood.

History:-

Ludoviciana is merely a latinised version of Louisisana.  The plant has been used in its entirety for centuries by Native Americans for  medicinal, vetinary, ritual or spiritual purposes
