History:-
The fruit is a cross between a mandarin orange and an orange created by the Algerian priest Pierre Clément in 1902. Clementines are sometimes mistaken for tangerines, but the clementine has a more easily removed skin, a sweeter fruit, and no seeds.
However, there are claims it originated in China much earlier; one source describes it as nearly identical to the Canton mandarin widely grown in the Guangxi and Guangdong provinces of China. The fruit is not always easy to distinguish from varieties of mandarin oranges. As such, it should not be confused with similar fruit such as the Satsuma or honey sweet orange, or other popular varieties.
CAUTIONS: Like all citrus fruit, Clementines are phototoxic and exposure to strong sunlight should be avoided for up to an hour after application.
