Jasmine auriculatum – The fragrant floral Jasminum auriculatum, also known as Juhi, is popularly used in perfumes industry. This jasmine contributes a complex, aromatic note to perfume compositions. Its scent is unique as compared to other types of jasmine with slight reminiscences of Gardenia. Located in South Asia, Jasmine Auriculatum is a small flowering shrub in the jasmine family. The flower is mostly used for religious ceremonies and hair garlands during festivals.
This species of jasmine belongs to the Oleaceae family. Its natural habitats include India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Andaman Islands. Common names for Jasminum auriculatum include Jasmine molle, Indian Jasmine, Juhi, Jui, and mulai. This plant has distinctive evergreen perennial flowers. Indian and Thai farmers indulge in jasmine farming and cultivate it commercially because of its highly perfumed oil.
Indians use it in religious festivals and for its decorative attributes. It grows rapidly and when in full bloom, it is extremely fragrant. The fragrance of Juhi Jasmine makes it stand out among other jasmine types.

HISTORY:
Since ancient times, Jasmine has been referred to as the King of oils (Rose is the Queen). Apparently this is because Jasmine is the most masculine of all the floral oils. It is also interesting to note that It takes 22,000 carefully hand-picked blossoms to produce 1 gram (about 1 ml.) of Jasmine Absolute.
Medieval Arabic “zanbaq“ means jasmine flower-oil from the flowers of any species of jasmine. This word entered late medieval Latin as “sambacus“ and “zambacca“ with the same meaning as the Arabic, and then in post-medieval Latin plant taxonomy the word was adopted as a label for the Jasminum sambac species.
Absolutes should be avoided during pregnancy and never ingested (taken internally) and should be kept away from children and pets. No medicinal claims are made for this product and the notes above are provided for guidance purposes only. Absolute Oils are powerful plant extracts and should be used with extreme caution. You should seek the advice of a qualified practitioner should you be in any doubt.
It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance – particularly the rare and exotic notes – become lost.
