SCENT:Serbian Spruce essential oil is rarer than the black or white spruce. It is sweeter, and softer than most evergreen oils with a balsamic, resinous odour with green woody and slightly fruity notes. Overall, the scent is very clean, fresh and pleasant.

Serbian Spruce is native to the Drina valley in the Eastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western reaches of Serbia. It is a threatened species on the endangered list. It was originally discovered in the Tara Mountains in 1875. The plant readily hybridizes with the Black Spruce.

The essential oil has a very pleasant scent, and can be used by aromatherapists in baths to revive tired muscles. It will also be seen frequently used in room sprays, detergents, and in cough and cold preparations as a diffusing oil and an inhalant.

Serbian Spruce Needle Essential oil is a specialist oil with only a small endangered stock provenance so is not much used in modern life outside its natural and native area of growth, although the trees are considered ornamental and are planted in gardens as a specimen so the endangered category is only really relevant in its natural habitat. It has a shorter history than the Black or White Spruce of use in saunas, steam baths, and as an additive to baths and massage products in spas. A particular strength of this essential oil is its ability to target sore muscles and to re-energize or invigorate.
